I am a wife and mother of three breastfed baby boys (who are now 3 fabulous, healthy adults). I completed my graduate education while working as a labor and delivery nurse and being a part-time single parent/full-time Navy wife.

I have devoted my professional career as a certified nurse-midwife to the care of women from adolescence though menopause. My greatest professional passion has always been caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. In 2006, I added IBCLC to the credentials of RN, CNM and MSN, when I wrote the board and became an internationally board-certified lactation consultant.

After our youngest baby left for college in 2015, my husband Scott and I decided it was time to live the dream and moved from Chesapeake, VA to Kitty Hawk, NC.

I was very quickly welcomed into the birth and breastfeeding community of the Outer Banks. I began participating in the local community breastfeeding support group, OBX Breastfeeding Bistro, and after the group facilitator moved from the area, I became the support group leader and moderator of the OBX Breastfeeding Bistro Facebook page.

I have had the privilege to help thousands of breastfeeding families in my 30-year career. My philosophy of care is to help each family define their own success and meet their individual breastfeeding goals. Breastmilk is much more than food. Any amount of mother’s milk helps provide babies a lifetime of health advantages.

The name of my business is a nod to my new hometown of Kitty Hawk where in 1903 the Wright Brothers became first in flight, flying their newly created airplane from the top of giant sand dunes, known as the Kill Devil Hills.
